If accounting is the language of business, the ability to translate its meaning is an invaluable skill. BW's Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program is designed and driven by current and emerging technologies, cases and simulations to delve into accounting situations requiring expertise and analytical skills, and subject matter that allows graduates to simulate work in the accounting profession.

Prepare for Accounting Career Opportunities

The MAcc program's goal is to help students seamlessly move from classroom to workplace, which is embedded into the teachings of all program requirements. Graduates will be prepared for a diverse selection of careers in accounting, including public accounting, industry and government agencies, and for candidacy to sit for the CPA exams. In addition, a Master of Accountancy degree provides you a pathway for entrepreneurship and the ability to give back to your community.

MAcc Program Curriculum

The MAcc program curriculum includes advanced accounting subjects, data analytics, financial statement analysis, fraud examination, and four minimester capstone classes in partnership with Becker Education Services, the gold standard in CPA exam preparation. All courses are taught by faculty with the appropriate academic credentials, real-world on-the-job experiences, and professional certifications or licenses where appropriate.

For more than 60 years, Becker has helped over one million candidates prepare for the CPA exam by delivering the right exam preparation information in an effective way.

Becker's effective exam prep content is woven seamlessly into the MAcc program at no additional cost to students. prepares students through subject matter comprehension rather than rote memorization learning, ensuring a student's study time is effective, relevant and reflects the questions on the CPA exam.

Becker's integrated platform makes learning easier by hosting study resources conveniently in one location, allowing for seamless navigation between textbooks, lectures, homework and simulations. And with the Becker app, students have access to efficient studying anywhere at any time.

Bloomberg Business Research Center

The center offers the leading financial services technology - Bloomberg terminals that integrate industry-leading data, research, news and analytics.

Student at computer in Business Research Center A prerequisite to the MAcc program is successful completion of the Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) and Excel certifications as part of a semester-long course on computing designed exclusively for accounting and finance students. Learning Excel consists of completing 7 e-learning modules; learning BMC consists of completing 4 e-learning modules, and both culminate in demonstrating proficiency through presentations and analytic assignments.

The Excel and BMC certifications - in addition to the MAcc degree - are available for downloads to update to resumes and LinkedIn profiles.

All MAcc students can leverage the Baldwin Wallace University career center programming, counseling and events. Whether students are looking for a part-time internship or a full-time role upon graduating, they can meet with a career counselor dedicated to the Carmel Boyer School of Business and use Handshake, our dynamic career networking app, to find opportunities throughout Northeast Ohio and across the country.

Professional networking is part of the program too. MAcc students will automatically become members of the Baldwin Wallace Accounting Association upon acceptance into the program.

Every fall, employers come to campus to recruit our accounting students at Meet the Accountants Night. Every spring, employers return to campus to celebrate academic efforts by awarding scholarships to our accounting students.

These events, expert faculty and other graduate staff team members assist in helping students connect and pursue career opportunities with employers and influencers throughout the accounting profession.

Curriculum

The Master of Accountancy is a 30 credit hour program. Course descriptions and additional information about the curriculum can be found in the University catalog.

The Master of Accountancy curriculum includes:

Ability to earn 15 credit hours over each fall and spring 16-week semester.
1. Classes offered in 8 week sessions (students take between 6-9 credit hours per 8 weeks).
Rotation of classes offered in the summer semester.
Four module capstone classes using Becker CPA preparation materials.
Technologies currently used and emerging in the accounting profession.
Up to date accounting subject matter delivered by accounting faculty possessing rich work experiences and credentials.

The Master of Accountancy degree completion includes:

Completion of all prerequisites to enter Master of Accountancy program: determined during application/approval process.
Completion of all Master of Accountancy program requirements: 30 credit hours.
Completion of two professional events.
Completion of an earned minimum 3.0 GPA.
